HISTORY

Speakeasy Promotions is a booking and promotions company founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 2009 by Brannon Boyle. Speakeasy was created to provide concert-goers with ample information on upcoming shows and to take a unique and innovative approach to reviving the live concert experience for Atlantans. Speakeasy is rooted in the principle of quality control. The company takes pride in the artists it chooses to represent and, therefore, true talent is the main determinant when organizing shows. Though Speakeasy began booking mostly hip hop artists, the company has expanded to include many different genres of music including dub, funk, electronic, and all forms of psychedelic music. The company’s interest lies in uniting both similar and diverse music sounds and mixing genres at live shows.

The name originated as a reference to a seasonal event that featured live hip hop music and live graffiti/art. This event came to be known as Speakeasy when Tyler Person, who later went on to form the group the Nice Guise, offered up his basement as a venue for the performers. As the Speakeasy events gained popularity, there became a need for a larger venue. Shortly thereafter, Speakeasy Promotions was created in order to serve as a liaison between up-and-coming performers and venues, and between national headliners and local artists.
